3: Trash, Excess...Consumption

MY TRASH

90% recycled - cardboard, paper, glass, tins, cans, compost...

10% trashed - certain plastics (why do they even exist if they can't be recycled?)

MY EXCESS

Some of my friends are having a baby, so I wanted to do something to help them. I searched high and low and found some kitchenwear that I think will come in handy.

MY CONSUMPTION

I knew this before doing this excercise, but it reminded me how much plastic we use. I started to cook a lot more at home, and reduce my need to buy anything from a shop which would be covered in plastic.

2. Finding my direction magnetically.....

SANTOS: Why do you want to take part in the program Warriors Without Weapons 2009?
ME: I've been searching for a long time for the right project for me, and when I found out about Warriors Without Weapons...I knew that it was the perfect programme to apply for. I've been looking for the opportunity to roll up my sleeves and get involved in a project that where I can help people...and help to take me towards to more fulfilling life. Right now I'm getting up at 6am....and helping the wrong people. I want to get up at 6am....and work a full day helping people who need it.
SANTOS: What you intend to do once you are back home after the Warriors Without Weapons?
ME: I know that in 2009 I'll move into a job where I'm helping people change their lives. I have in mind a number of organisations that I want to apply to work for, but truthfully right now I don't know the detail of the type of role. I want to find my direction magnetically, and I will spend lots of time discovering my strengths and weaknesses to make sure I find the perfect role on my return.
SANTOS: How, in your opinion, your experience during the program here will support you to take action in your location?
ME: I know it will help in many ways; I will meet other people with similar aspirations.....and as Warriors Without Weapons is a school...I'll learn lots of knowledge and skills to develop myself into the person I want to be. Gaining hands on experience will be invaluable for my development and transition into a new life in 2009.

1. WHO AM I? MY DREAMS. MY CHALLENGES...and more..

SANTOS: Who are you now, at this present moment of your life?
ME: Right now I have a regular job, but in my free time I do lots of non-regular things like helping my friend Lee who has cerebral palsy, helping my grandad who's pretty old now and has some ailments like angina and diabetes....and generally doing bits and bobs that give me more satisfaction than my 'regular' job.
SANTOS: How do you feel?
ME: The truth is I want to make the change in 2009 - to get a non-regular job that enables me to focus all my energy.
SANTOS: What are your professional doubts?
ME: I know 128% that I'm in the wrong job. I want to move into a job where I help people in their lives. I have a lot of energy for this...and I'm ready for the change.
SANTOS: What are your dreams?
ME: I want to feel that everyday I'm making a difference to people who need help. I want to meet extraordinary people who inspire me, and make me a better person.
SANTOS: What are your challenges?
ME: Whilst I want to help people, I also need help myself. I need help to make the steps towards my ultimate dreams. I know that meeting you in January 2009 would be a big step for me...and help me get closer to knowing exactly what I should do.
